Welcome to the home of Aviation Explorer's Squadron 8, dedicated to providing the youth of our community exposure to the rewards of aviation careers. Part of the Boy Scouts of America's Explorer Scouting program, Post 8 has been introducing young people to the world of aviation for over 50 years. Young men and women, ages 14-18 learn what it's like to fly aircraft from real world professionals. They are nurtured through a training regimen that includes a full ground school course, monthly pilot meetings with safety lectures, orientation flights and dual flight instruction, culminating in their passage of the FAA Private Pilot Practical Test. In other words, they become licensed pilots. They learn how to care for the airplane, to keep it maintained and how to fly it in a professional manner. When finished with our program, they truly are professionals.
Take some time to browse our site and visit often as we update our web presence to keep you informed of what's going on. The links at the top of the page will take you to our activity schedule, let you view the schedules for the airplanes and meet the flight instructors and others who contribute so much to our success. Use them to become more familiar with who we are and what we do.
You don't have to be a pilot or the parent of a Post 8 member to feel welcome here. If you have any questions or comments about our program, e-mail us. We will be happy to answer any questions we can. If you are a pilot, please feel free to use our site as a launch point for some wonderful web resources.
Best Regards,
